How the node is run

The node is built for resilience, transparency, and steady performance, and it never has custody of your funds.

🖥️ Professionally run infrastructure

Sunshine runs on bare-metal servers in a secure data center, with redundant power, fast NVMe storage, and ample bandwidth. Hardware is sized with headroom, so the node keeps performing through load spikes, and the network stack is tuned at the kernel level for fast, reliable block production.

🌄 Early adoption of network upgrades

The node adopts Solana's new infrastructure early rather than waiting for it to become mandatory:

• It runs the Jito client with BAM, the Block Assembly Marketplace.
• It is connected to DoubleZero for low-latency networking, including shred publishing over the DoubleZero multicast network.
• Since August 2026 the operator also runs a node in the Alpenglow community cluster, taking part early in testing Solana's next consensus protocol.

📡 Monitoring and alerting

Real-time metrics, health checks, and automated alerts watch the node around the clock. Vote credits, skip rate, and delinquency are tracked continuously, so anything that drifts is caught and acted on immediately.

🔁 Backup and failover

A fully synced backup node is ready to take over if needed. The validator identity can be moved over quickly, which limits missed slots during maintenance or an incident and protects your rewards.

⬆️ Proactive updates

New Solana releases are tested early on the testnet node before they reach mainnet, and upgrades are scheduled around epoch boundaries to avoid disruption. This keeps the node current and dependable, and in line with the requirements of major stake pools.

🔎 Transparent on-chain identity

🔐 Non-custodial by design

Staking with Sunshine is non-custodial. You delegate from your own wallet and keep full control of your SOL at all times. Sunshine never holds your keys and never moves your funds.
